Operation Love Bug!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!!!! A portion of my circle of friends this year for Valentine's day decided instead of whining about being single they were going to do something awesome and fun, they called it operation love bug. Basically what they did is they each bought a few Valentines (or made them) and signed them anonymously and took them to a nursing home. They instructed the nurses to give them to people who received few if any visitors. Basically their goal was to share some love with people who otherwise do not receive it. I am reminded of James 1 where he tells us to visit orphans and widows. Think and pray about this, what if Christians all over did this during various holidays this year and in years to come, what if we all did this and impacted people's lives. These are my thoughts, what are yours?

Pursuing Christ

The theme of the camp this year is one name one pursuit, so i started thinking about it and what God kinda showed me was intense, yet simple, and a much needed reminder. If we are pursuing God we shouldn't be looking back. Think about it for a second. If you are looking back you are going to keep tripping over things because well you can't see where you are going. If you are a Christian and you are focused entirely on who you were and not who God is making you into, it is going to be difficult to pursue God, it is like chasing something and looking the opposite direction, sheer stupidity. Read Hebrews 12:1

Long Division

This has really began to irritate me. This may be offensive so if you are are feeling particularly sensitive just go to a different site. I want to ask why there are so many denominations that fall under the Christian umbrella (excluding those that deny fundamental teachings from the Bible)? Have you really sat down and thought about it? We as the body of Christ should be acting unified, but we aren't like that when we look at the fact that there are so many denominations. I have nothing against baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, etc... but I do have an issue with the fact that we are not acting like a unified movement going into the entire world.

A saved life.

I went and saw To Save a Life in a prescreening at my school. It was probably one of the best movies I have ever seen. Of course I did relate to most of it with the cutting and the suicide (clearly I have never commit suicide). During the movie I just got a strong feeling about starting a revolution at my already Christian school. On the way home I was praying and asking God, why me? I'm not exactly popular at my school actually I'm not popular at all and my school is already Christian. So, God, why would you pick an unpopular senior to start a revolution at a place that is already Christian? Then my thoughts started drifting over to Christ and the apostles, etc.... Christ was not exactly the most popular guy in Jerusalem, the apostles not exactly the most educated influential people you had ever met, the letters in the New Testament went out to impact communities that were already Christian, Christ came to earth in a place and time where the majority of people were Jewish, starting to see something? Why were the people God worked through in the New Testaments such huge impacts despite their circumstances? I laugh at myself sometimes because some of the things I question God on are so incredibly easy to see. So obviously I have some stuff I need to get started on because I have 6 months (give or take) in which to accomplish this.

I also thought the movie was awesome because what the main character did in befriending a loner although not exact reminded me of two things, first what Christ did for us, and second a year and a half ago I was suicidal and it was one of my closest friends who (through Christ) helped me back to Him.

Full Moon

The full moon recently got me thinking about Christianity.

-What does Christian mean? It means to be Christ-like, Christ person, or little Christ.

-How does the world see Christians? Often as hypocrites, but with a few admirable.

-What makes those admirable few stand out? They are those who reflect Christ the most.

Of course by now you may be thinking, "What does this have to do with a full moon?" Christ was called the 'light of the world'. The moon particularly a full moon really lights up the night. I could read outside in the light. We, as Christians, are to reflect the Son of God, like the moon reflects the sun. The people of the world are often considered dark, but is it possible that we are not properly reflecting the Son? When a Christian stands out it is because they are reflecting the Son like a full moon fully reflects the sun. Christians, why is the world 'in the dark' why can't they see the light? It is because so many Christians are not reflecting Christ. Just one last tidbit, moons revolve around planets, we should be revolving around Christ and not losing course.

Harder than you would think

This weekend I did some not to smart things and last night after Bible study. I got in my car and started driving home. I only went one traffic light before I turned around went back to the house and confessed some of the things I did. It was really difficult and to be honest I did not really want to do it but I did. It proves a few things about Christians. First, no matter how awesome they claim to be they struggle with stuff (for me it was depression). Second we are not infallible (or at least I am not). Lastly even though Christians are seen often as judgmental there are always a few who are willing to stop and pray, or whatever with a person.
